Can I Have A Restylane Injection While I’m Pregnant?
Restylane is the procedure used to regain youthful looks and rejuvenate people using injections. Hyaluronic acid gel is a clear gel which is injected into the area to be treated. This gel is non-animal but is found in all human beings. Hence it is safe to use it.
Restylane is a dermal filler which brings back the fullness and the youthful texture of the skin by rejuvenating it. It is used on the face to remove unwanted wrinkles, lines, crow’s feet, and the like. After Restylane treatment, the person will look much younger. Among all the rejuvenating treatments recently developed, restyalane is very popular because it has no side reactions and no recovery period as well. The result is also almost instantaneous.
However there has been no testing reported for the use of Restylane lip injection during pregnancy or lactation. The safety of Restylane for use during pregnancy and breast-feeding has not been established. Research and experimentation is going on and hopefully within a short time the results will be declared. Till that time, nothing can be said of restylane being safe to be used during pregnancy or not. There is no point in taking a risk. Pregnant and lactating women should wait till it is over before they think of restylane or any other such procedures. It is not advisable to take such risks. Even though there may not be any risk to the mother or the child, it is better to wait till it is established that restylane can be used during pregnancy and lactation.
In people between the ages of eighteen and sixty-five, restylane injection can be used as long as they are physically and mentally fit and healthy, have no skin problems and no major diseases. Since the hyaluronic gel injected is similar to the acid in our bodies, there are no side reactions to it or any allergies. It is not needed to have a pretest done before the procedure. Besides the few side effects like reddening or irritability of the skin or some swelling or pain, there are no major reactions to this therapy. But it should not be used indiscriminately.
Some patients may need more sittings while others may be happy with one or two sessions. Age, skin type, heredity, reactions are all factors which have to be considered before undergoing this or any other therapy. A good doctor is the best judge who can assure the patients what to do and what not to do.
